Extending Element Functionality with Plugins
Plugins in Naologic’s Studio provide additional contextual actions or connections to enhance the functionality of elements. Each type of element supports specific plugins tailored to its intended use, allowing for dynamic and flexible data handling within your app.
Types of Plugins
Plugins can be used for the following purposes:
Data Repository Search
Allows you to search and select data from a different data document than the one already connected to the modal or element.
Example: Searching for data from a “Products” document to populate a dropdown in an “Orders” modal.
Data Type Selection
Enables the use of user-created options for dropdown fields based on specific user needs.
Example: Creating custom dropdown lists for order types.
Metadata Options
Provides predefined options with commonly used data sets for convenience.
Examples:
Countries for location fields
Currencies for payment fields
Timezones for scheduling and time-based actions
Setting Up Plugins
To configure plugins for an element:
Install an element in the Studio that requires a plugin.
Right-click on the element and select Edit.
Navigate to the Plugins tab.
Fill in the required fields depending on the plugin being used. These fields will vary based on the type of plugin and the intended action.
By leveraging plugins, you can expand the capabilities of elements, ensuring they interact seamlessly with external data, custom user options, and predefined datasets. This enhances the flexibility and efficiency of your app-building process.
