Start Task by Document ID Function in Naologic Actions
The Start Task by Document ID function allows an action to execute a task targeting a specific data document and associated action. This function is particularly useful for running tasks in the background while keeping the workspace informed of their progress.
What is the Start Task by Document ID Function?
This function initiates an action linked to a selected data document. Once triggered, the task runs in the background and notifies the workspace upon completion, allowing users to continue working without interruption. If the task is started again before its completion, it will result in an error to avoid redundant execution.
How to Add the Start Task by Document ID Function
While editing the desired installed action:
Click on the "Add Function" button inside the action edit modal.
Search for "Start Task by Document ID" in the list of available functions.
Select the function to include it in the action.
Configure the function:
Select the Data Document: Choose the target document where the task will be executed. This can be any data document, even outside the current workflow.
Select the Action: Choose the action from the selected document that needs to be executed.
Save the action settings.
Once configured, the function will execute the specified task in the background, ensuring smooth workflow execution and notifying the workspace upon completion.
The Start Task by Document ID function provides a powerful way to manage asynchronous tasks, ensuring efficiency and avoiding duplicate executions.
