Step-by-Step Guide to Understanding and Using Actions in Naologic

Actions in Naologic serve as the backbone for both manual and automated processes. Whether it’s simple operations like creating or updating entries manually through forms, searching for data, or more advanced tasks like sending emails or generating PDFs, Actions ensure that your app workflows function smoothly and effectively.

Types of Actions in Naologic

Actions in Naologic come in two forms:

Predefined Actions

Predefined Actions come with specific out-of-the-box functionalities but can still be customized to fit your needs. Examples include:

  • Delete Entry: Remove an existing record from a data document.

  • Create Entry: Add a new record to a data document.

  • Update Entry: Modify an existing record.

  • Update Status: Change the status field of a record.

Empty Actions

Empty Actions are highly flexible and allow you to build customized workflows from scratch. These are ideal for unique operations that are not covered by predefined actions.

How to Add Actions to Your Project

To add either Predefined Actions or Empty Actions to your project, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Project Canvas: Open your project workspace where you want to add the action.

  2. Access the Actions Library:

    • On the left side of the canvas, click on the plus sign (+).

    • Under "User Interface" > "Actions", you will find the list of available predefined actions and the empty action.

  3. Drag and Drop:

    • Select the action you need (predefined or empty).

    • Drag and drop it onto the canvas.

  4. Name and Install:

    • Provide a clear and descriptive name for the action.

    • Click "Install" to finalize the addition.

Customizing Actions

Once an action is installed, you can customize it to suit your specific requirements:

  1. Edit the Action:

    • Hover over the action on the canvas.

    • Click "Edit" to open the action settings.

    • Connect the action to the relevant data documents and configure its behavior.

  2. Add Extra Functionalities:

    • Click on the "Add Function" button within the action settings.

    • Select the additional functionality you need from the list (e.g., validations, notifications, or transformations).

  3. Reorder Functions:

    • Hover over the added function.

    • Use the six dots icon on the left to drag and drop the function into the desired order.

    • Reordering ensures that the functions execute in the correct sequence, which is crucial for complex workflows.

Actions in Naologic are essential for both manual and automated operations. From simple tasks like manually creating or deleting data to more complex workflows involving multiple steps, Actions provide the tools needed to execute processes efficiently while maintaining flexibility to meet specific requirements.
